Dr. Phillips believes in saving your own teeth is always the best treatment. A root canal allows you to do just that. When the nerve in the tooth dies, you may have a severe toothache, feel pressure, have swelling of the gums or sensitivity to hot and cold. This procedure requires Dr. Phillips to open up the tooth and remove the infected nerve. Shaping, cleaning and sterilizing the inside of the tooth. Once disinfected the tooth will be sealed and rebuilt. After the root canal is finished, since the tooth dries out and becomes brittle, a crown is recommended to protect the tooth.
