Ultrasonic Scalers
Our hygienists use ultrasonic scalers for most adult cleanings. These scalers use an ultrasonic vibration that helps break down the calculus from your teeth in a way that is very gentle. Ultrasonic scalers also create shockwaves that disrupt bacteria biofilms so that the plaque bacteria and calculus can be therapeutically flushed from the teeth by a small jet of water or antibacterial mouthwash which is emitted from the top of the scaler. This makes ultrasonic cleaning suitable to those patients with sensitive teeth. After your teeth have been cleaned with the Ultrasonic scaler, you will then be hand scaled to check for any residual deposits and then polished.
